As well as 'the priest' and 'the lady' there was also another respected personage who arrived at the school to cause a stir. This was 'The Inspector' or 'An Cigire" and he had the advantage of being unpredictable, he could arrive at any time. Various names turn up through the years.
Mrs. Stella Larkin remembers Mr. Topping. Mr. Kirkpatrick and Mr. Teeling are remembered around about the 1930s. Then Mr. Roddy came in the forties. Mr. Cleary was Inspector in the Faythe School in the fifties and sixties. The nuns liked him very much. He usually wandered into the cookery kitchen to announce his arrival and gave them a chance to get ready before he called to the classrooms.
Mr. Isdell took over in the late sixties. Then came Mr. Mannion and Mr. Frank O' Donoghue. The current inspector Mr. Billy Lawlor is a native of the Faythe and a past pupil of the school. His three children attended the Faythe School.
