Runners-Up in South Leinster - FAI 5-a-side Soccer - Well done boys!

On a day when you 'wouldn't have put a bucket out' the entire 6th Class headed off to Bunclody for the finals of the FAI / Spar South Leinster 5-a-side Soccer Tournament accompanied by the ever present Mr. Murphy, Mr. Doyle and a few very well wrapped up parents.

Though normally one of the most picturesque settings in Wexford to play sports, it was one of the worst possible days that pupils were expected to play soccer with howling winds and driving rain from start to finish. The appalling conditions can be seen on the video shown below and thanks are due to the 'photographers' too on the day who managed to captures some great pictures albeit with 'frozen fingers.'

However play they did and the boys were a credit to Mr. Murphy and the school being undefeated in three of their four games. Gallingly the boys fell short at this stage of the competition with a single goal separating themselves and the eventual winners - Gaelscoil Wicklow.

While disappointed on the way home, the boys had a second medal for their efforts - the first time a team from the school has won a medal at 'provincial level.'

From the first day in Ferrycarrig, the team and their classmates performed, and more importantly behaved, very well all throughout.

A special thanks to all the parents / guardians who brought the boys training over the Easter break, to AM for taking part in these sessions and to Mr.
Murphy for giving up his holiday time to prepare the team.

A huge well done to all.

The message at the end of the video says 'When you have done your very best, you can never be considered a loser!' That rings true to this particular bunch of boys - 'Well done and thanks!'
