Congratulations to all the children who made their First Holy Communion last Saturday in Bride Street Church beautifully decorated with the children's Art work. On a day that started with worrying weather, all the children were in 'tip top' form, from their behaviour to their participation in the Sacrament.

In front of a congregation that spanned many generations and four continents the children enjoyed their special day as all the hard work done at home and in school since September 2018 came to fruition.

The Choir under the dual direction of Ms. Mullins and Ms. Foran were in great voice and it was great to see so many siblings of First Communicants take their place in the Choir for their brothers or sisters big day. A sincere word of thanks too to the parents / guardians of those Choir members who were brought to Bride Street and later collected on the day.

Thanks too to the altar servers, both current pupils at the school, and to Fr. James our school Chaplain and BOM Chairperson for all he does in school. Earlier in the year while on pilgrimage in the Holy Land he got a rosary beads made from olive trees for each of the children and these were presented at the end of Mass.

Every one in the attendance followed on in the beautifully presented booklets thanks to Mar in the Office and is worth noting that it was one of the most respectful Sacrament Masses held in recent times and for that all those in attendance are to be thanked.

At the end of the Mass the Parents Association representatives, Siobhán McMahon and Sue Rea-Brennan, made presentations to the Choir teachers, SNA Eleanor Egan and Fr. James as well as organising a photographer whose photo will be presented to the children as a suitable momento before the end of this school year.

No-one will begrudge the 'final thanks' being reserved for class teachers Ms. Foley and Ms. O'Leary for their incredible work done with their classes throughout the year.

The Parents Association had colluded to remove the children from the class to create a personalised 'thank you' for each of the teachers comprised of a framed, once-off, piece of art displaying the silhouette of a teacher holding a bunch of balloons where each balloon is made from the thumb-print and the name of each child in Second Class in 2018/19.

As the weather brightened for all at the Church the Choir signed off to rapturous applause and families left to enjoy a very special day.

Well done to all!
