Welcome to the blog of the St. John of God Primary School, The Faythe, Wexford.
The latest Camógie or Hurling results usually dictate what sort of welcome visitors from Kilkenny to the Faythe, or indeed Wexford itself, get.
Maybe it was the absence of the dreaded black and amber garb or maybe it was the presence of two strapping soldiers, Captain Murphy or Private Dooley, but suffice to say no Kilkenny visitor was ever given as warm a welcome as Fionn when he visited the Faythe School on Tuesday 27th November 2018.
Of course it could have been the simple fact that, as the mascot of the 3rd Infantry Battallion in James Stephens' Barracks, Kilkenny, Fionn, the wolfhound, was the biggest dog to ever visit the school....probably since 1875...and that demands a certain level of respect!!!
Not only was Fionn afforded two audiences with the Faythe pupils (the 'senior' classes directly after 'break' and the 'junior' classes just before lunch) he was even interviewed by some of our students.
However as you'll see in the video below Fionn is well used to meeting 'names' and isn't fazed by the presence of paparazzi.
Special thanks to Captain Murphy, Private Dooley and Ms. Kelly who organised this very special visit!
