Girls' Mini Sevens 2019/20

The first team to take the fields in GAA Competitions were the Girls' Mini 7 Gaelic Football team who took the field in Piercestown on Friday 20th September.
On a gloriously fine day the girls had mixed luck when beating Castlebridge in the first game but then being on the receiving end when defeated in their second game versus Piercestown.

The Girls played and behaved very well and most of all enjoyed themselves. While thanks are extended to both Mr. Ó Donnagáin and Ms. Forde, mentors on the day, the school's participation in these competitions wouldn't be possible without the very real support given to us by the parents / guardians who drove the team to the competition.

'Lá Glas' wraps up SnaG 2019

'Lá Glas' wrapped up Seachtain na Gaeilge at the Faythe School for 2019. In the week before St Patrick’s Day all manner of activities were undertaken as all in the school tried their very best to use their Irish. Poem were learned, songs were sung, 'seanfhocails' were introduced, examined, learned and depicted while Mar in the Office was under immense pressure to produce reams of green and gold paper / card while keeping her eye on the laminator to make sure it didn't melt through use before a tsunami of shamrock themed Art was displayed throughout the school!!!

On Friday 15th (the Faythe's Lá Glas) all in school were encouraged to wear something green to celebrate our Patron Saint and mark our national holiday. As so it happened.....from subtle shamrocks / tricolours painted on faces to hairbands to full blown tri-colour wigs to earrings to leprechaun hats and beards to full-blown suits, to Irish jerseys / hoodies / tee-shirts to green socks to Leprechaun 'onesies' - you name it, we had it!!

The week culminated with all classes performing a variety of songs, dances, plays and poems in the School Hall through Irish.

Last week Mr. Ó Donnagáin's 5th Class visited Wexford Library for a talk on Irish Wildlife while a few days later Mr. Murphy's 6th Class enjoyed a local history 'Walking Tour' from the men from the South End Family Resource Centre.

Both events definitely proved that classes such as these are greatly more enjoyable than sitting in the Faythe.

Thanks to Mr. Gregg for his photos and to BK, CW and DB for their accounts!!
