Confirmation and Holy Communion Ceremonies

CONFIRMATIONS IN WEXFORD PARISH 2021
In last week's newsletter and on our social media platforms, we communicated the dates and venues for the Confirmation ceremonies that were due to take place in August. These dates were set in good faith with the candidates and their families in mind. We tried to keep in view that these dates were made well in advance and taking into account the immanent transition of the children into secondary school in the coming weeks. After the publication of these dates, the government announced that ceremonies such as Confirmation and First Communion can go ahead from September. With this in view, we have been asked to postpone our Confirmations until further notice. We feel that we have no choice but to do so and defer the Confirmations until a later date. As soon as these new dates will be available, they will be communicated. At present, the scheduled dates for the First Communion, already published, are still valid.
We sincerely apologise to everyone who will be disappointed with this news. The schools involved and the parish itself feel that disappointment too. However, we feel we have no choice with the complications and uncertainties that arise when celebrations take place outside of official guidelines and advice.
