  • Grandparents' Visit

Áine and Noel visited our class on Wednesday 5th of December. We asked the Grandparents questions and they answered our questions and told us lots of stories about long ago. It was very interesting! They told us about the old days long ago and all about their school, house, games they played and Christmas. We even got to sing them our Christmas Carol Song.  By Holly Gallagher  Room 14~1st Class    {gallery}Grandparents{/gallery} ...

On Thursday 6th December 2018 our class went, with Ms. Mullins' 1st Class, on a  trip to see a Christmas Show called 'A Jingle Bell Journey' in the National Opera House. We went on a bus and we were at the 'Post Office' first when Golden Ember, the fairy, arrived to greet us. Then we went through a tunnel and went into a Snow Mountain and Igloo with an Arctic Fox inside. Golden Ember, with leaf wings, was there with Chris Mess and Snotser. Chris Mess captured all the fairies and we worked together as a class to force Chris Mess to release the ...

  • Up D'Rocks

Room 12, 5th class were treated to a guided tour of the local environs, commonly know as "D’Rocks”! which was amazing. The fabulous tour guide, Colm, who doubles as the boss at the South End Family Resource Centre, guided the students around Hilly Holly, the Devils Chair and the wooded area of Maudlintown. Colm imparted his great knowledge about the flora and fauna of the area while showing us a lot of different types of plants and trees, such as Beech, Hazel, Spanish Chestnut and Horse Chestnut. He also showed us different rocks such as Quar ...

  • One Card per Child per Class / Wellness Wednesday Deferred

This is the fourth year in succession that all children and families are asked to consider taking part in the 1 Card per 1 Child per 1 Class initiative which has proven popular with adults and children alike. We are asking all children in the school to try to bring in ONE CHRISTMAS CARD only. We are asking all children in the school to write this one card to their TEACHER AND ALL THEIR FRIENDS IN THE CLASS. This has 5 positive effects..... Families do not have to buy (and probably write) loads ...

    the crest

Our logo is a cross and an open pomegranate. The cross is the universal symbol of Christianity. The pomegranate has a strong association with the city of Granada in Spain where our patron, St. John of God, lived. The abundance of seeds in the pomegranate is a reminder of God's endless love for us.
