Christmas Table Centre Piece Making

Posted by on in The Faythe School
FaceBook  Twitter

As promised on Wednesday 20th NovemberHelen O'Grady demonstrated how to make a Christmas Floral arrangement or centre piece for your Christmas Table.

There was a great great sense of camaraderie in Room 8 as Helen set to her task with great enthusiasm and no little skill. People were happy to share advice and laughs, greenery, tools and yarns as the adults set about their tasks.

Without doubt it is one of the most enjoyable activities that takes place during the year.

It is hoped to run the class next year also and our expressed aim will be to boost the number of male participants to Darren on his own!!! Togha fir, gan dabht!

Second class in Room 10 went on their school tour to Adventure Alley and Kidzone in Gorey on June 23rd. We bounced on trampolines for an hour. That was great fun and we even played dodge ball on the trampolines.

We then went to Kidzone. We played hide and seek, soccer, catch, chasing, ran through obstacles and whizzed down the big slides with our friends. It was exciting, enjoyable and energetic. We even got a goodie bag to eat.

We all loved our school tour this year and would happily go back again!

A special thanks to Ms Duggan and Peter for coming along on our school tour.

Super Swimmers - 2014

Posted by on in The Faythe School
FaceBook  Twitter

Well done to all our 2nd Class pupils, some of whom were too nervous to get into a pool only a few short months ago, who have been awarded certificates of swimming competence.

Following 10 weeks of lessons at Wexford Swimming Pool, Ferrybank, all attending pupils received swimming certificates following successful tests completed in the previous weeks.

I'd like to say a special 'thank you' to all those at home who made sure that there was a 'togs / swimsuit / towel / googles' in the bag each week as well as the €3 to pay for the lessons.

These lessons would not have been possible without the help of those parents / guardians who came with us as 'bus escorts' each week. Thanks so much for your commitment and patience.

Everyone at the Faythe School is especially proud of the newly designed website that replaced the original site in May 2013. Using much of the content of the first site, parent and IT wizard, Abe Silva (AWD Solutions) worked with the staff to totally transform the site which can be viewed on any device connected to the internet. Embracing the latest technology, the new site allows for instant communication with the entire Faythe School community.

There was great delight today when it was learned that the website had been awarded Scoilnet’s much-coveted Star Site award which affirms the hard work of Abe and the ‘techies’ on staff. Such collaboration typifies the whole school / community spirit that is the cornerstone of all staff try to do at the school on a daily basis. It is hoped all Faythe school people (past, present and future) continue to interact via the website, which has become such an excellent teaching, learning and communication tool.

The Scoilnet citation reads “This is a really excellent school website. Professionally designed and very colourful - like the school itself. Navigation on the site is through the tabs at the top and these really give just about anything you would expect from a school site. The Parents information, in particular, was very comprehensive.

The Students tab presents a lot of support material for students. We were impressed by the science videos which are part of the school's 'Scien-tastic' programme. The site also has a secure section accessed through a sign-in and positive behaviour / anti-bullying information is accessible from the bottom of each page.”
